My apologies, but this little public call to my friends and students to participate in a Capture365: A Photo A Day Project and host it on my personal server, has become more popular than my little server can handle. In less than a week more than 700 images have been uploaded to the site. It’s created a bit of a traffic jam to say the least. Just Image if we all keep this New Years resolution!! And I hope we all can! That will mean nearly 40,000 images on my server! It’s already “choking” now, so before we go any further. I think we need to move to more *robust* sites, like Flickr, tumblr, posterous, or mostly365. So off you go! I’m happy to have planted the seed for this project in so many friends. Please keep it up, but I have to stop the uploading of images to this site.
Again, My apologies. Good Luck!
p.s. I’ll leave the site up for those of you who were able to post successfully and might want to grab your images back although I suspect you have them on file. Also, inspired by two students, http://365lily.tumblr.com/, http://365diana.tumblr.com/ I started an tumblr site for my images and I’d highly suggest this approach, http://koci365.tumblr.com/ and If you like the theme, it can be found here, http://www.tumblr.com/theme/19513

I never question what to do, it tells me what to do. The photographs make themselves with my help. ~Ruth Bernhard
This year, I am encouraging you to shoot and share one photo a day for 365 days.
Taking a picture everyday isn’t a new idea and this isn’t my first attempt. I’ve tried five different years starting in 1995 to accomplish this personal project. I’ve only succeeded
once, 2000-2001. I’m ready to take on the challenge again.
From Photojojo: Why do it?
Taking a photo a day is a big undertaking with big payoffs. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider doing it:
* Imagine being able to look back at any day of your year and recall what you did, who you met, what you learned… (Often we find it hard to remember what we did just yesterday or even last night, let alone a whole year ago!)
* Your year-long photo album will be an amazing way to document your travels and accomplishments, your haircuts and relationships. Time moves surprisingly fast.
* Taking a photo a day will make you a better photographer. Using your camera every day will help you learn its limits. You will get better at composing your shots, you’ll start to care about lighting, and you’ll become more creative with your photography when you’re forced to come up with something new every single day. No cheating, if you miss a day, you’re out of the game.
I’ve learned a simple truth about this kind of venture. The more you let others around you know what you’re up to, the more reminders and support you’ll get along the way. This journey isn’t as easy as it sounds, so I’m inviting you along for support. I’m not going to preach about why it’s a worthy quest, it’s not the road to Mordor, for heaven’s sake, but I know there’s something valuable for anybody wanting to be a better photographer.
Good Luck!
